Driving a regenerative movement in Ecuador
The Sanctuary
The Insect and Pollinator Sanctuary of Ecuador was born out of an urgent call to create a refuge for life and a bridge to sustainability. This biological oasis emerges to counteract the fragmentation of natural habitats, offering a safe, diverse, and chemical-free environment where bees, butterflies, beetles, and hummingbirds can thrive.
We are creating a sanctuary dedicated to the protection of pollinators, ecological restoration, environmental education, and transformative experiences in nature.
More than a conservation project, we are a regeneration platform that integrates biodiversity, well-being, learning, and collective action.
Our initial goal is to regenerate the first hectare (10,000 m²) of pollinator habitat and turn it into a demonstration model of conservation and regeneration for Ecuador.
What will you find at the Sanctuary?
- Ecosystem Regeneration We restore habitats for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators essential to life.
- Regenerative Tourism Experiences that allow you to enjoy nature while actively contributing to its conservation and restoration.
- Immersion in the World of Bees Hands-on experiences to discover the fascinating world of pollinators and understand their role in the health of ecosystems.
- Sensory Tastings of Honey and Mead A journey through the aromas, flavors, and landscapes expressed through honeys of origin and their derivatives, such as mead, an ancestral alcoholic beverage with a long history in humanity.
- Forest Bathing and Wellness in Nature Experiences designed to reconnect with natural rhythms, reduce stress, and strengthen your bond with the environment.
- Camps and Experiential Learning Programs For families, students, organizations, and groups seeking to learn by doing and connect authentically with nature.
- Transformative Retreats and Gatherings A space for facilitators, leaders, businesses, and communities that wish to develop experiences of well-being, leadership, and a deep connection with the land.
- Education, Research, and Citizen Science Our vision includes the creation of a Pollinator Interpretation Center and a laboratory for research, monitoring, and environmental education.
The Call of the Pollinators
Within the insect world: bees, bumblebees, butterflies, moths, flies, wasps, and beetles. In the bird world: hummingbirds and honeycreepers. And among mammals: bats, mice, and opossums, though on a smaller scale.
All pollinators sustain life. Thanks to them, thousands of plant species reproduce, as well as a large part of the food we consume every day. However, habitat loss, agrochemicals, and climate change are causing an unprecedented decline in their populations.
In response to this reality, the Ugshapamba Pollinator Sanctuary was created: a space dedicated to ecological regeneration, environmental education, and the active conservation of pollinators.
More than a project, it is a movement to give back space to life. It's not just about protecting pollinators.
It's about regenerating landscapes, strengthening communities, inspiring new ways of learning, and building a positive legacy for future generations.
We invite you to be part of this vision.
Ways to Be a Part of It
The Ugshapamba Pollinator Sanctuary is growing thanks to individuals, companies, and institutions that believe in a future where biodiversity, sustainable production, and the regeneration of the territory can flourish together. There are different ways to join this mission.
🌱 Founding Member Become part of the group of people and organizations that drive the long-term vision of the Pollinator Sanctuary. Founding Members contribute to building a legacy of conservation, environmental education, and ecological restoration that will benefit future generations. Build the legacy from the ground up.
🐝 Sponsoring Member Directly support the restoration of pollinator habitats, the planting of native species, biodiversity conservation, and the development of spaces for learning and connecting with nature. Turn your commitment into a tangible impact on the territory.
🤝 Supporting Member Join a community of individuals and organizations that continuously support the growth of the sanctuary and its conservation programs. Help this initiative continue to grow and flourish.
🏆 Honorary Member Recognition awarded to individuals and institutions whose scientific, educational, cultural, or social contributions strengthen the mission of the Ugshapamba Foundation and the Pollinator Sanctuary. Knowledge also regenerates.
🌼 Friends of the Sanctuary Participate as a volunteer, visitor, or partner in ecological restoration activities, environmental education, regenerative tourism, and experiences that connect you with nature. Come, learn, and be part of the change.
Together we restore life. Every native tree planted, every flower that feeds a pollinator, and every square meter recovered is the result of a network of people and organizations committed to caring for nature.
